Snail Farming Peculiarities: Intensive Versus Extensive, Advantages & Disadvantage

So let's dwell more on dis extensive and intensive snail talk to include d semi intensive and its challenges, peculiarities and comparative advantage.
I tink i should take d time to say that d word  intensive means enclosed confinement and extensive means exposed confinement wt alot more freedom to create more of a natural atmosphere feel for livestock as in free range while semi intensive is a combination of both. Intensive gives u more control of ur animal farm to range from diets, food to body mass ratio measures, health and well being of over all livestock, and it will require ur routine commitment as dis is called d garbage in garbage out method.

U select d feed marsh and formular frm time to time to achieve a desired body mass but d other bn extensive is like set up ur snail farm and go on vacation only to comeback on harvest possibly in months or years as long as d environment is pest and theft safe and under lock and key.

D 2 main types of farming hv their peculiar challenges, and comparative advantages and disadvantages. In Europe, USA, Canada and Australia, dis 2 methods is at large put to use for commercial snail production.
Loss and safety of snails is inherent in both method or practised employed. Everything in life has procedures and we must b sure not to miss it as we may pay bitterly for lack of experience.
I hv had a case of sm1 saying he lost all his 10,000 snail stocks, another lost 2,000 and another started wt just 800 on free range and encountered no troubles at all.

D difference for desired result is d measure of qualitative information put to use
Hv u ever wonder why snails enjoy climbing?? Its bcos they are afraid of bn attacked by soldier ants, thefts or hands or predatory animals easily reaching for them and also for fear of drowning if their pen or environment is water logged. This gives a clue to d problem and what's d best solution to be employed.
Except if wooden suspension or material is to be used, For a large intensive farm, German floor must be built, afterwards, to pour or not to pour in sand after is an option for u to decide.

While for extensive after d land is cleared, and crops and vegetables are planted to fallow for like a month, before introducing ur snails to such environment, it must be 1st treated wt insecticides as such as d following: Attacks, Actforce gold, perfect killer, Cyperforce, DDT force or this set of very powerful nematode repellants to include the buried ant eggs, mother ants and colony already layed and burrowed in the soil waiting for u to put any life organisms. The powerful: nematodal repellants are: Benefitial nematodal Tripple threat combo, Granular insecticides, Talstar PL Granules, Talstar Extra Granules, Merit Insecticides Granules, Deltagard G granules, Maxforce Complete Granular Bait, Demand G granules, Invict Xpress Granular Bait, Premise Granules, Arena 25 Granules, American Brand Pamethrin Grannules, Advion Insect Granule Bait, OHP Marathon 1% granular, Talstar N Nursery Granular, Caravan G insecticides fungicides, Zenith 5 G Insecticide, Grubs away insecticides, Elemental Sulfur, Ivermectin, Borax or Boric Acid ehivh includes ( Boron, Sodium & Oxygen),  Isazophos, Carbofuran,  Ethoprophos, Phenamiphos, HCH, Isofenphos, Aldicarbe, Chlordecone, also for fungus prevention that may hamper the over all growth of snails in d free range or wide, use any of d following antifungal: Chlorothalonils, di thiocarbimide, fluzilazoles, imazaliles,  imidazoles, methylthiophanates, Nuarimols, Prochloraz, Triazols, Propiconazoles. Pls ensure to use or apply 2 different types of dis recommendations alternatively every 2 to 3 months so as not to allow, fungi, nematodes and insects to develope resistance and so as not to deter d growth of ur snails Wch could discourage ur and affect your out put in d long run. U can also use d Boerdox mixtures and your farm crops and snails will thrive side by side together.

I hv bn to University snail farms on Nigeria and hv shared research info in d course of interaction and expedition, some get it right and some don't. Just as humans all livestock and humans needs deworming and antibiotics to reduce bacteria and worm infestations, same goes for ur snails wt d use of antifungal and Nematodal repellants: Note: on inception, u should only introduce your snails to your free range farm after 2 weeks of dis chemical application so as to allow d chemicals take effects. But do remember to apply this every 2, 3 to 4 months. Insects raids and fester in rainy season while nematodes and grubs raids and fester in dry season and if u Dnt head dis advice, if u Dnt loose ur free range Snails to insects in rainy season, u may lose them in dry season to nematodes. It should be noted that in the intensive farming method may not have to go this extra mile to use chemicals, while in the extensive and free range method, its a must or else u may lose a considerable lots or all of your snails to pest.
I think i have done sufficient justice in this  regards. For more info you can reach us at Zion Joe ventures, suite 9, Olutayo Shopping Complex opposite TJ Hotel, Oshogbo, Osun State. +2348141208884,
