Plus d cost of pen set up of 400k to 800k all together + 150k for electrical wiring and lightening, gen 60k to #2 million naira Lister gen+ 250k to 500k for borehole +  management and security staff of 80k per month to pay just 3   to 4 staffs + deworming and antibiotics drugs and vaccination every 2 to 3 weeks. So do the maths and add up d maths for urslf and tell me if u hv 5 to 7 million naira to spend for 6 months on poultry only to sell at #2,500 per live broiler chicken while u sell the layers at #1,200 per one. Pls do your add up maths with your calculator.
All these calculations are excluding Debeaker at 35k, + automatic poultry vacinator at 25k + Electric broader to keep your chicken warm at #35k and big size at 120k, manure scraper at 350k + egg incubator at 350k + feed additive of #10k per bag + weather temperature regulator at 7 k + Defeathering machine at 450k + gut removal 400k + an industrial cold room plant of #10 million naira to #15 million naira + 2 industrial John Holt or MIKANO lister gen of #2 million naira each plus your day to day cost of diesel = what????? This is why the big boys cry cos most of this business establishments run on loan worth of #100 million naira to #200 million naira  and aside that, you have to pray your chief accountant, general manager or ethically impaired staffs and management don't conive to run your business aground with improper records and poor inventories, documentation and poor or overblown or window dressed auditing. The sweeps usually comes like the plagues of Egypt and Pharaoh.
  Hmmm I believe you now see why most farmers Cry, loose badly, commit suicide or run mad in poultry business and while poultry importers and the likes of Dangote, and Politicians doing d business in Nigeria goes home with the biggest share of poultry profit and smiles bcos they hv access to the money for the business as there is sufficiency of funds to absorb the shocks. Imagine a poultry with a 300,000 to 400,000 stocks of birds and d set up and running cost and d anticipated profit.???
Yes poultry business is big business but not for d amateur or small boys in pocket size. But in fishery, with just 80k to 250k apart from your borehole cost of 250k to 500k, or with just a budget of #1 or #2 million naira, u will smile at the end of your 6 months harvest time as you can cut corners with fish feed innovatively, but for chicken, u dear not try it cos u could either fall sick, run mad or commit suicide in d outcome of d long anticipated result. In fishery, I always advise people to start small with a budget less than a million naira or possibly 80k to 250k, u can get optimum result and its ideal as a backyard business and yet you will make huge profit using flex, tarpuline, plastics or polygon tank as against the regular earthen pond or concrete ponds that could cost u more or extra. With just 800k, u can set up a standard deep littre Broilers based  poultry system with a bird capacity of 1,500 birds.
